WMD is a voluntary initiative by a group of human rights defenders to monitor and provide online documentation on the deliberations and
proceedings of the UN human rights meetings such as the Commission
on Human Rights. The 60th Session of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) 2004 is the first project for WMD. WMD intends to continue to provide
more services on other UN human rights meetings such as the
Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and
Working Groups when necessary and possible. Forum-Asia is one of the
implementing partners in Asia.

Open Invitation for Solidarity for Peace in Nepal

We are pleased to extend this open invitation to the friends of peace, democracy, human rights and social justice to be a member of Solidarity for Peace in Nepal. This programme is jointly organised by Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM ASIA), Thailand, Asian Resource Foundation (ARF), Thailand and Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), Nepal, on 1-10 April 2004 in Kathmandu, Nepal. We request you to visit Nepal, see and learn about the present situation, talk with the stakeholders and assess what can be the meeting point for peace negotiations in Nepal and help Nepali peace actors who are in the dire need of at present. You can also be a member of High Level Dialogue Team (HLDT) and participate in the high-level dialogue scheduled to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal on 8-10 April 2004 as a part of the programme. The programme aims to mobilize international support for a negotiated settlement of the conflict between the state and the Maoists. It also aims to restore democracy and peace, and stop human rights violations and the loss of innocent lives.

Asian Consultation on Vienna Plus 10 update

Over 130 participants of the Asian NGOs Consultation on Vienna+10 (Asian Consultation), representing local, national, regional and international NGOs and civil society organisations from more than 20 countries of the Asian region and the rest of the world gathered in Bangkok, Thailand, from 15 to 16 December 2003, to assess the human rights situation for the last 10 years in the region in light of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action (VDPA) which was the outcome of the World Conference on Human Rights (WCHR) held in Vienna in June 1993.
